Yosef Shai "Yossi" Benayoun (born 5 May 1980) is an Isreali international footballer played for Chelsea F.C. from 2010 to 2013, playing under 4 managers with the club.

Chelsea careerEdit

On 3 July 2010, Benayoun signed for Chelsea from Premier League rivals Liverpool, for a fee of £5,500,000. Yossi initially took to life as a Chelsea player very well, scoring in his second appearance from the bench away at Wigan, before impressing in his first start, a 4-1 Champions League win in Zilina. However a calf injury against Newcastle in the Carling Cup saw him limp off as Chelsea lost 4-3 to a late goal.

Upon his recovery, Yossi reported for duty with the Israeli national side, but was forced to return to Chelsea after suffering a torn Achilles tendon. He missed six months of action but returned to play a bit-part role in the season's end.

Reporting fully fit for the new campaign under Andre Villas-Boas, he impressed during pre-season and looked to be back to his creative best, but was allowed to seek regular starting opportunities at Arsenal with a season-long loan on transfer deadline day in August 2011.

He returned to Chelsea to take part in the 2012-13 pre-season tour of the United States but on 31 August 2012, he returned to his former club West Ham United on a loan until the January transfer window, with an option to then extend the loan for the rest of the season. He returned to Chelsea at the beginning of January 2013.

On 26 May 2013, it was confirmed that Yossi's contract would not be renewed and he would become a free agent. Benayoun had a largely unsuccessful career with Chelsea, being sent out on loan spells twice, and scoring just 1 goal in 24 appearances.
